The LastMile WDirect 1000 Information Node is a wall or post-mounted intelligent device that has local flash data storage, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and a wireless (GPRS) modem for monitoring and control. It can also provide enhanced connectivity to Wi-Fi-enabled devices. The WDirect 1000 Information Node enhances standard Wi-Fi access point functionality with the inclusion of a local cache. By processing and caching information at the edge of the network, the WDirect 1000 Information Node helps to:
-
Reduce the need for unnecessary network traffic
-
Reduce backhaul dependency, and
-
Improve speed of transactions with local authentication
Flexible, scalable and reliable delivery of rich media and data for large or small Wi-Fi deployments in municipal, campus or enterprise deployments
-
Interoperable & Scalable compatibility with multiple telecommunications technologies such as GPRS for monitoring and control 3G, ADSL, fiber, WiMax or other forms of networking for backhaul connectivity
-
Faster Content Delivery architecture enables near instantaneous access to information because there is no network delay, even in an emergency
-
Statistical Analysis and Tracking - managing servers track billable transactions, and provide specific node-performance data
Security features protect data, can help enhance public safety
-
Transaction Security provides faster content delivery and services authorization
-
Modular can support remote data collection and management, e.g. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) readers for asset tracking or sensors
Network ready, simple to deploy and maintain
Highly available, reliable design for improved service levels or mission-critical public safety
-
Reliable Design highly reliable, highly available designs ensures no single point of failure
-
Reconfigures Automatically automatic node reconfiguration in event of power loss
Lower-cost wireless network deployments
-
Cost-effective Deployment easy placement and maintenance of information nodes helps accelerate build-out of wireless network
-
Immediate Data Serving units can be deployed without broadband backhaul but can be remotely managed through the GPRS monitor and control system
-
Reduces Cabling reduces need for Ethernet cabling to information nodes
