The LastMile solution is a pico-cell wireless content delivery system that helps supply rich media and data to users based on location and immediate requirements. The solution includes a node-based hardware system called the WDirect™ 1000 Information Node that allows information to be stored and processed at the edge of the network, rather than at the center as with most conventional networks. By caching and processing information near the point of consumption, the LastMile solution reduces the need for unnecessary network traffic. LastMile’s technology enables users with wireless devices that operate across a wide range of standards, including existing Wi-Fi, to easily, quickly and securely access information and services.
