Antony Abell, MinstD, MILT, CIM
Chief Executive Officer and Director
As Chief Executive Officer of LastMile Communications, Antony takes on the role of lead representative of the Company's aims and policies to the outside world, while providing leadership to the Company's Board of Directors to ensure its effectiveness in setting and implementing corporate direction and strategy. In addition Antony leads the fundraising initiatives on behalf of the Company.
Antony has two decades of business experience working in both operational and entrepreneurial roles in a number of global markets. He also has an extensive background in military communications that he applied after leaving the British Forces and joining Videotron in the cable communications industry. For the past decade this experience has come from his work with fast growing start up companies, including his own first start up, C-Three Logistics Limited, which he founded in 1995.
Both a citizen of Canada and the United Kingdom, Antony’s experience spans the Atlantic and includes roles at the House of Commons, Chairman of the Bandsharing Forum, nearly a decade in the British Army as well as coach and manager of British National Cross Country Ski Team that competed in the 1992 Winter Olympics.

Skip Ballou
President (Americas, Asia-Pacific) and Director
As President of LastMile Communications for the Americas and Asia-Pacific regions, Skip’s primary focus is coordinating all of Last Mile’s activities in the U.S., with ultimate responsibility for the Americas and Asia Pacific. His responsibilities include managing the company’s IBM partnership activities (channel sales, global services and global maintenance/support) along with third party contract manufacturing, as well as establishing industry vertical, best of breed solutions.
Skip’s previous roles include Executive Vice President of Business Development and Intellectual Property at Raleigh, North Carolina-based World Theatre, Inc., where he had complete corporate responsibility for strategic business development and global relations, as well as the creation and management of executive relationships with Fortune 100 companies such GE, AT&T, and IBM.
During his time at World Theatre, Skip co-invented and filed 29 technology patent applications related to revolutionizing the entertainment and advertising industries.
In addition, Skip enjoyed a long varied career with IBM from 1981-2000, holding various sales positions for different U.S. regions and Asia Pacific.
Jonathan Lord
Non Executive Director
Jonathan has over twenty years' of business experience in advertising, marketing communications and technology. As a Director of Saatchi & Saatchi plc until 2000, he ran international campaigns for Hewlett-Packard across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Previous agencies include Bates, A.P. Lintas and Ogilvy & Mather, and previous clients include BT, Thorn EMI, Deutsche Telekom and Marconi. In addition to being a non-executive Director of LastMile Communications, Jonathan is also a member of the LastMile Remuneration Committee. He has served on the advisory boards of other technology companies.
From 1994 to 2002 he was a Councillor in the City of Westminster, where he was the Deputy Leader of Westminster Council and Chairman of the Environment Committee. He also served on the governing bodies of Transport for London, the Central London Partnership, the Paddington Regeneration Partnership, the London Ecology Unit, and the Association of London Government Leaders' Committee.
Jonathan was educated at Shrewsbury School, Kent School (USA) and at Merton College, Oxford.
Frank Bishop
Non Executive Director and Co-founder
Frank's expertise covers a period of 40 years in the Induction Heating industry. During this time Frank has held several senior engineering and design roles with major companies within the Induction Heating industry.
Prior to becoming the initial visionary and co-founder of LastMile Communications, Frank has run his own consultancy business for several years, applying his knowledge of the Induction Heating Trade in several countries throughout the world.
John Brandwood
Non Executive Director and Co-founder
John was a co-founder of the company which was formed in 1999. John graduated from Leeds University in 1969 and commenced teaching secondary aged pupils before opening a residential school in 1984 for children with special educational needs in Devon which he ran for 14 years. In addition to this, John set up and was Principal of a residential college for young adults from 1990 until 1997. John was the first Chairman of LastMile Communications and he contributed to market research in the initial stages. John is a successful businessman, who is also Director of an Exeter based construction company building executive homes in the South West of England and has business interest in Menorca and Mallorca.
